``I AM JACK´S BROKEN HEART´´ (ENGLISH VERSION)

-``I know it because Tyler knows it´´.

-``Listen up, maggots. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You´re the same decaying organic matter as everything else´´.

-``Self improvement is masturbation. Now self destruction...´´.

-``You know, the condom is the glass slipper of our generation. You slip it on when you meet a stranger. You dance all night , then you throw it away´´.

These are some quotes from Fight Club (1999, David Fincher), based on the novel written by Chuck Palahniuk, in which he became famous.

Chuck studied journalism and when as adult became a member of  the Cacophony Society- the word cacophony means: the repetition of unpleasant sonorous words.

This society is defined : is a randomly gathered network of free spirits united in the pursuit of experiences beyond the pale of mainstream society. Some cacophony events involve costumes and pranks in public places and not allowed spaces.

According to self-designated members of the Society ``You may already be a member´´.

Palahniuk got inspiration in this Society for his novels and the basis for Mayhem project of Fight Club novel, which was his second attempt of publication (and propelled him to stardom), because his first novel- Invisible Monsters- was rejected for being too disturbing.

              In Fight club the plot revolve around a nameless guy (Edward Norton) confused, tired of the consumeristic society in which his generation has sinked and wishes to do something to change it. After meeting Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt)- nihilistic who refuses the consumeristic culture and believes that self destruction is the only thing life worths it- both create a secret fight club (which two main rules are: You Do NO talk about Fight Club) where release frustration and  anger. This club will success.

Very  recommendable film.

Note: the counseling groups where the narrator goes are based on the counseling groups where Palahniuk took terminal patients as part of volunteer work.

                  And finally, Edward Norton, actor, scriptwriter, producer and film director, from USA. From my point of view is one of the best actors, versatile artist, like for example, in serious roles like in American History X (1998, Tony Kaye)- where he was nominated for an Oscar as best actor- or in less serious in Smoochy (2002, Danny DeVito).

Edward Norton, graduated in History, made his first appearance with Richard Gere in Primal Fear (1996, Gregory Hoblit) where plays a teenager that has been charged with murder. In this film Norton won a Golden Globe for the best supporting actor.
